Interesting factors that might point to a divorce

When you are walking down the aisle, you don’t think that your marriage will end in a divorce. Instead, you assume that your marriage is a life long commitment.

It might interest some people who have already gotten married, as well as those who are engaged, to know that there are some factors in your life that might make you more likely to get divorced. Many of these occur before the day you say “I do.”

One of the possible predictors that you will go through a divorce is that your parents were divorced. The end of a marriage is what you have seen as a model for marriage, so you might subconsciously think that this is what needs to happen.

Another factor is that you were married young. Studies show that your late 20s and early 30s are the time in your life that is associated with a lowered divorce rate. Before then and after 32, your risk of divorce rises. Interestingly, getting pregnant early in the marriage is another signal that your marriage might not end up lasting a lifetime.

An expensive wedding might also be a marker for divorce. People who spent less than $1,000 on the wedding are the least likely to get divorced, while people who spent more than $20,000 are 3.5 times more likely to divorce than those who spend from $5,000 to $10,000.

If you and your spouse don’t have the same alcohol consumption styles, your marriage might end. The same is true if one or both spouses is extremely attractive. Not being raised with a religious upbringing and not finishing college are also warning signs of a potential future divorce.
