Parents are enjoying the time with their children that comes with summer vacation. Many might not even want to think about the upcoming school year. However, divorced parents might need to start planning sooner rather than later. There are many considerations that the back-to-school season brings for all parents. Those who are divorced might find that there is an extra layer of complexity to this situation.

One of the most pressing matters in these cases might have to do with who is paying for the child's school supplies and other costs. In many cases, this and other education-related matters are covered in the child custody agreement. You should review this document to determine exactly what it says needs to happen. If there are aspects that aren't covered, you can try to work them out with your ex.

As your child grows up, there are many changes that might need to occur. While a younger child might not have many extracurricular activities, older children might. This brings up the need to discuss how to handle the fees and costs of these. It also means that you need to figure out how transportation will be handled. Keep in mind that there is a chance that the increased activities will mean that the parenting time schedule also needs to change.

We realize that you have a lot to think about when your children are heading back to school. Starting to get these matters hashed out now may reduce the stress that you are going to experience as the new school year draws closer and closer.
