Divorce: End of an era, start of a new chapter

You might think of divorce as the end of an era in your life, but you have to look at the other side of this situation. It is also a time for you to build the life you want and focus on your happiness. Enjoying life after a divorce is fully possible. The decisions you make during the divorce, including the property division, can be the framework you need to do this.

Take the time to focus on your own needs. You might only have 10 minutes a day for self-reflection, but you can use this time to set yourself up for success. Set goals for yourself about where you want to be in two years or even in a decade. Once you have that, set up smaller milestones that you can work toward that will bring you closer to your goals after the marriage ends.

You are going to have more responsibilities now that you are single and can’t count on your ex to handle things. Try to remember that your goal is to enjoy life. You can’t be focused only on tasks. Be sure that you let go of the emotions that might be bringing you down and look at ways that you can add joy to your life now. This might mean that you just let loose and have healthy fun sometimes.

Don’t let yourself get stuck in a rut. You don’t have to do things the same way you did when you were married. Pick out what worked for you during that time and keep those points, but proactively change anything that didn’t work. Constantly taking steps to the life you want to live is important during and after divorce.
