One of the most difficult things for some people is seeing their ex with someone new. Unfortunately, this is a common occurrence after you go through a divorce. Deciding now how you will handle the situation can put you in a better position for dealing with it when it happens.

When you go through the divorce, you need to remember that it means the relationship is fully over. There isn't any going back. It didn't work out. Your ex is no longer your significant other, so both of you are free to do what you want and be with who you want.

Some people try to remain friends after the divorce. This might be a goal for you eventually, but you might find that it is too hard at first. Try to let yourself work up to that point slowly so that you aren't uncomfortable and you might be able to better cope with your feelings.

Another option that might help you during this transition is maintaining your friendships and rekindling ones that fell by the wayside during your marriage. This gives you people to interact with who aren't your ex. For some people, the familiarity of their ex is what they crave when they see them.

You also need to take care of yourself during this process. When you aren't feeling your best, you might find it more difficult to deal with things like seeing your ex with a new person. Additionally, feeling your best enables you to take care of your children in the manner they need. They'll likely need you more now than ever, and they may need your help adjusting to your ex's new significant other.
