Child custody battle between Ciara and Future settled

Ciara and Future have settled their child custody battle, according to various reports. The two will share custody of their 2-year-old son, but the boy will remain with Ciara most of the time while Future is out on the road performing.

Ciara and Future were engaged to be married but broke up before exchanging vows. Future spoke out about the child custody battle this past summer.

“I can’t deal with it,” he said in an interview. “I can’t even think about it. I never imagined my life would be like that: ‘I’m going to sue you and take away from you.’ I don’t know how to deal with something like that.”

Just three months after their son was born in 2014 the relationship between Ciara and Future took a turn. Future was accused of cheating on Ciara and then he publicly spoke down about Ciara and her boyfriend at the time, Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Ciara sued Future for $15 million in 2016, claiming that he libeled and slandered her with multiple defamatory statements. The case has since been settled out of court and the libel claim was dropped from the lawsuit by Ciara. Ciara would have had to prove that those libelous statements, which were posted on Twitter, were a detriment to her career.

Ciara married Wilson in July and the couple is expecting their first child.

The child custody case was dismissed from court by the presiding judge because Ciara and Future submitted an agreement they reached on their own accord. The two said they simply wanted to move on with their lives and end the fight over custody since Ciara is expecting a child with Wilson and Future is out on tour now.

Prior to the agreement, Ciara sought full custody of their son, but it was denied and Future was granted joint custody.
